What the National Roofing Directory offers a roofing company
The Roofing Wire is one part of the National Roofing Directory. The directory also carries a listing for your company, a jobs board built only for roofing, a marketplace for equipment and materials, and an open board for the trade. Here is how each one works, from NRD's own pages.
Your listing is probably already there
According to the National Roofing Directory's membership page, every roofing company it could find in public records is already listed. Until a listing is verified, NRD does not publish its phone number, email or website, and inquiries from that page are sent to a verified contractor instead.
Claiming is the first step. The claim-listing page is where you claim or add your company, with its business details, services and service area. NRD explains that listings nobody confirms are removed, always with notice, and that a removed listing can be restored by claiming it.
The membership ladder
The pricing page sets out five levels, and every listing starts as Listed. The prices below are as NRD publishes them.

What Verified means
Verified is the level NRD calls the threshold, because it is where your phone, email and website go live. The badge is not bought; NRD states that for Verified, a person checks phone, email, website, logo, services, rating, insurance and license, and that verification is carried out by a person rather than granted by payment. Verified members also receive inquiries routed from unverified listings nearby.
Gold and Platinum
Gold adds the Preferred badge, shown on your profile and on the ranked lists buyers scroll by state, city, service and search. Platinum is the top of the ladder: the Editor's Choice badge, a showcase page with your own photographs and words, and first call on inquiries routed from unverified listings in your area.
More than one location
Each location is managed separately and picks its own level. NRD discounts additional locations on the same level: 25% off each additional Gold location and 50% off each additional Platinum location.

Hiring: a roofing-only jobs board
The National Roofing Directory's jobs board describes itself as a roofing jobs board and only a roofing jobs board, with every listing submitted by the hiring company rather than scraped from elsewhere. Posting is free and, by NRD's estimate, takes about three minutes. A posting needs a job title, city and state, employment type, a description of the work and a pay range. A person reads every posting before it goes live, and it runs for 30 days unless you ask for it to come down sooner.
Jobs are sorted into five categories: On the Roof, Sales & Estimating, Office Careers, In the Shop, and Drivers & Operators.
Buying and selling: the marketplace
The marketplace is contractors selling to contractors. NRD says everything on it was submitted through its own form by the person selling, with nothing mirrored from Craigslist, auction houses or equipment aggregators. Listing is free. Each item needs a title, category, condition, location and description, with price optional and photos encouraged; listings stay pending until a person reviews them and then run for 30 days. Seller contact details are kept private.
The five categories are Trucks & Trailers, Lifts & Conveyors, Tools & Equipment, Surplus Materials, and Safety Equipment, the last covering harnesses, anchors, lifelines, guardrail and netting.
Talking shop: The Board
The Board is NRD's open corkboard for the trade, split into seven rooms: News, Tips, Help, Jobs, For Sale, Looking For, and Beware. There is no login and no email, posts go live instantly, and every card can be voted on. NRD says its desk pulls anything that doesn't belong, and it asks posters in the Beware room to stick to firsthand, specific facts they would stand behind.

What does it cost to claim a listing?
A one-time $5.00 service fee, according to the pricing page. It keeps your listing on the directory and lets you edit it as often as you need.
What is the difference between Claimed and Verified?
Claimed lets you edit the listing, but your phone, email and website are stored rather than published and inquiries still go to a verified contractor. At Verified, a person checks your details, your contact information goes live, and inquiries on your page come to you.
Is posting a job or selling equipment free?
Yes. NRD says posting on the jobs board and listing on the marketplace are free, and a person reviews each post before it goes live.
Do I need an account to post on The Board?
No. The Board needs no login and no email, and posts go up instantly.
